When you hear the name of the punk band "Pussy Riot", you immediately have images in your head. Sees neon-coloured knitted masks and wild contortions, hears shrill sounds. In February 2012, three members of the feminist art-performance collective are arrested after protesting against Putin in the Church of Christ the Saviour in Moscow in colourful stocking masks with a punk prayer for freedom.
The video went around the world and wrote itself into the collective memory. Because a short action, less than a minute long, becomes an art and protest format that has an impact far beyond Russia.
As part of a European tour, Pussy Riot will perform a concert followed by a discussion about art, criticism and resistance in the exhibition "The World of Music Video", which shows this very performance video.
